Hi Everyone: Are we ready for Christmas and the Holidays??!! I spent a rainy day yesterday in New York City, but as I headed West toward home, I began to see more and more snow, that real pretty snow, that sticks to all the branches of the trees! I would say Allamuchy Township, NJ received about 3 to 4 inches. That was it!! I set my alarm for 6:30AM and I knew exactly where I was going to be taking pictures in the morning, at the State Park's new entrance road into Allamuchy Pond! I went to bed keeping my fingers crossed that the weatherman was going to be correct about it clearing up after midnight! He was!!
My visit started before any hint of sunrays and I started to get some nice "almost black and white" looking photos of the new road area with its nice view of the pond from the cul-de-sac. I thought, 'This will be great, when the sunlight hits all this snow it should really be beautiful!!' All of a sudden, I hear the alarm on my camera, dead batteries!! The one time I didn't bring extra batteries!! Walked briskly back to the car, careful not to slip on the ice - flew home, I mean, safely proceeded to my house and got new batteries.

Luckily, I made it back in position just as hints of sun light where highlighting the tallest of trees. My game plan was extended to walking along the trail and taking photos from several of the clearings we created along the pond's north shore and then crossing the back yard of the Mansion trying to make the most of the great contrasts in light on a the snow. I also wanted to get photos of the new school building from the pond and trail area. I was having a field day with the ever increasing sunlight on the snow.

Come to think of it, these are sort of historic photos! The first Dawn with Snow photos from the new road, the road was only completed a couple of weeks ago. I checked the area and there were no other footprints + I didn't see anyone! So I guess I'm safe with the above statement! The school also would be a first with its new beautiful rounded facade with all its windows facing the pond!
I know from my travels, New Jersey has some beautiful schools and college campuses, this site has to be right up there with the most scenic! NOTE: The last two photos, I showed you so much brightness and sunlight that I thought it wise to end this message on a more subdued note, just in case some of you look at this before going to bed! These are photos from Panther Valley Scenic Overlook taken this evening.
