Early Childhood Education and Care District
This District was formed in 1998 to provide administration over any and all municipal child-care centers located within the Township of Allamuchy . It is a non-profit program to support the education of the three, four, and five year olds in our Township. The District meets the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM.
Allamuchy Early Childhood Center
The Allamuchy Early Childhood Center is located in the "original" wing of the Allamuchy Elementary School on Johnsonburg Road. It is licensed by the State of New Jersey and is in compliance with N.J.S.A. 30:5B-1 and the rules and regulations formulated by the Child-Care Center Licensing Law.
The alliance between the Township and the elementary school has been a very successful partnership benefiting the young children of Allamuchy.
The center employs a Director and certified teacher, Sue Galloway who is in charge of the center and one of the classrooms. Merle Zaleski, a certified teacher, manages the second classroom. Our four teacher aides are highly qualified to work with young children.
The Center offers a caring, nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment for the pre-school child. This creates an atmosphere for young children to grow at a comfortable and continued pace.
The curriculum includes social and emotional development, creative arts, language arts, math/science, and physical education. The children are encouraged to explore, create and experiment, utilizing a variety of materials and equipment placed in learning centers throughout the classrooms. A theme-based approach embraces many disciplines as children use "hands on" experience" to learn about their world.
As early childhood educators, we believe that school for each child should be a positive and successful experience. Our goal is to provide an environment that will stimulate a questioning attitude and an eagerness for learning.
